Ballet
Currently, we have two RAD qualified Teachers: Sara Ridley and Holly Paul BA Hons (Dance Education).
Alysia Defriez-Ekpiken is currently working towards her registered teacher status, and we are excited to support her on this journey.
We offer classes starting from the age of 3 years. In these early classes, children are introduced to the world of ballet in a fun and engaging way. Darcy, Starlet, Julia and Anna P, our beloved School bear mascots, accompany the children to class. Each week, one lucky child gets to take a bear home, where they embark on adventures together. The children then documents these experiences in a shared notebook, capturing the magic and joy of their time with the bears.
From the age of 4, children begin their journey on the Exam ladder. This structured program allows them to participate in Assessments, Class Awards, and Examinations, providing a clear path for their ballet education. As they grow and develop, vocational classes become available from the age of 11, allowing students to deepen their skills and understanding of ballet.
In addition to the RAD syllabus, we are excited to announce this year we are trialling the ISTD Imperial Classical Ballet syllabus. Both programs are designed to teach dancers the foundational techniques of ballet, ensuring a well-rounded education.
We currently offer examination and assessment classes ranging from Pre-Primary to Advanced Foundation. When selecting the appropriate ballet class for young children, age is the primary factor to consider. Typically, children aged 3 to rising 4 years would begin in Pre-Primary, while 6-year-olds would be placed in Primary.
Our Hayes and Heston branches of the school welcomes children starting from the age of 3. After observing their response during a trial lesson, we discuss with parents to make the best decision for the child and the class placement.
We warmly welcome older children as well, regardless of whether they have prior training.
