Bobby Dazzlers at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London
27 children and 6 adults had a fantastic day at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London in April 2016. We travelled by tube and arrived with an hour to spare. We walked into Trafalgar Square and took lots of selfies and pictures. We then went and lined up outside the theatre, the excitement growing. On entering the theatre, we were shown to our dressing room. It was small and very warm, but we made the best of it. There was a lot of laughter, the older students were fantastic in helping the younger children. The atmosphere was lovely. We then went into the auditorium to watch the other schools perform and to wait for our turn. We rehearsed both our groups “Celebration” and “Silencio” on the stage. We clapped and cheered the other schools and they did the same for us.
At the dinner break, we took over the top floor of a restaurant over the road from the theatre. Everywhere was fully booked, because the marathon was being run on the same day. Anjie went and sweet talked the manager in The Aberdeen Angus Steakhouse. We all had to decide on what we wanted to eat early in the day. After a lively meal, we returned to the theatre to prepare for our performance. The excitement grew and grew. Again everyone was pitching in and helping. Some of us once ready, sat and played “I Spy” (my favourite part of the day). All ages joined in.
“Celebration” performed in the first half and “Silencio” in the second half. All the performers then rushed onto the stage to perform their Finale Routine. It was a wonderful, wonderful day. Enjoyed by everyone, performers, staff, parents, audience EVERYONE!
Then, very tired, we all went home to bed. And perhaps dreamed of doing this all again one day?
